I believe that political primaries should all occur on one day. I know, you think that I am crazy, but look at this: (1) states change the date of their primary to an earlier date to make sure that their votes count. South Carolina Primary Election 2012: Date Of Contest Set For January 21 http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/10/03/south-carolina-primary-election-2012_n_992061.html (2) The ‘Political Elite‘ backs a certain candidate that does influence the voters in an upcoming primary(s). Paul Ryan endorses Mitt Romney, plus more to watch for this weekend in politics http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/ticket/paul-ryan-expected-endorse-mitt-romney-plus-more-103855330.html (3) Political pundits, news outlets, and pollsters report that one candidate has a better chance to beat his political opponent (other party) in the upcoming election. General Election: Romney vs. Obama http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2012/president/us/general_election_romney_vs_obama-1171.html
Unfortunately, the electorate doesn’t review candidates opinion on all the issues. They have one major person or organization that they listen to and vote their way. I believe that is why the Founding Fathers decided that we needed the Electoral College. To stop this, I would like all primaries on one day and the popular vote count being used to select the nominee. Since the ‘Political Elite’ are calling for candidates to get out of the race and get behind one candidate, let the Primaries be set for Early Spring with the Convention in early Summer. We would then have plenty of time to set up the Republican Party Platform, Raise a War Chest and defeat the Democrats in the Fall.
